Forward-thinking French pianist Benoît Delbecq combines bright keyboard playing with electronics and prepared piano techniques à la John Cage. ‘A voyage into a land of magic’ (Le Monde).

Delbecq is based in New York, where he leads his own band featuring star saxophonist Mark Turner, who’s renowned for his exploratory intellect and intimate expressivity on the tenor horn. The rhythm section consists of double bassist John Hébert and drummer Gerald Cleaver, who are equally ubiquitous in the New York jazz and improvised music scene. The band’s first album will be released on the Clean Feed label this year.

In his early years Benoît Delbecq studied with, among others, Mal Waldron, Muhal Richard Abrams and Steve Coleman. He has received many awards is his playing has been recorded on over one hundred albums. He’s part of various formations in which he plays piano as well as clavinet and analogue synthesizer.
